20/20 Next generation fuel dispenser concept

Design Challenge

Fuel dispensers are used by a great number of people around the world on a daily basis. These people span multiple countries,
percentiles, cultures and languages. Many countries have their own dispenser designs that have evolved over years creating various platforms. A goal was defined to create new innovations that could enhance and consolidate these arrangements. The desired ideas were to drive how fuel dispensers are manufactured, shipped, used, modified and recycled.

Long lists of potential solutions were created. Many of these ideas were advanced in multiple Kiazen events held in various international cities. Soon, an urgent need arouse to find an appropriate and focused way for the team to showcase the vision of the many ideas that were being generated.
A mission was set to conceptualize a global fuel dispenser platform that provided a ‘clear vision for the future of fueling’.

2020 GVR Gas pump The 20/20 fuel dispenser aims to strike a balance between human interaction and technology by incorporating a trans-generational / global Interface which can be customized to accommodate most user percentiles and languages. The newly conceptualized vision offers an enjoyable user-experience while supporting automotive fueling needs of today and tomorrow.

The 20/20 fuel dispenser product reconsidered how a fuel dispenser can accommodate advancing fuels and new fueling technologies as they are unveiled. The product contains existing and futuristic state-of-art technology with a mix of eco-friendly materials while portraying a simple use product.

In addition to a strong innovation perspective, the 20/20 fuel dispenser design strives to bring back a nostalgic attraction and reestablish a stronger visual tie between automobile and the fuel dispenser. The design pays homage to the signature styling of the company’s long history of dispenser design. The integrated camera globe at top of the dispenser is reminiscent of the glass globe that appeared on vintage gas pumps. The gas pump design also reduces the outdoor visual clutter of fueling stations by reducing height, width and depth of product to create a more harmonized look
with the fueling site.
