IN2 + the 2017 IDSA International Conference in Atlanta
We had a blast at this year's IDSA International Design conference in Atlanta, and, happily, the IN2 team got to actively participate throughout the event.
Brian Roderman, IN2's Chief Innovation Officer, delivered an awesome presentation on creating new Experiences, which he walked through using IN2's True User Experience map (and illustrated the world-famous Georgia Peach).
We are also proud to welcome new design talent to our team. Juliette Laroche, out of the University of Houston, recently joined our creative team in Austin, TX, and she's already getting attention for her design chops. Juliette received a Model One award for excellence in industrial design for her INNSAEI Scuba Diving Mask, which improves communication between divers. As part of the award, Model One created a full prototype of Juliette's mask, which was on display at the conference.
In addition to his presentation, Brian was also selected as the judge for Benjamin Moore's Notable Fast Pitch competition. Notable, which Benjamin Moore debuted at the conference, is a multi-surface dry erase paint. The launch - and the competition - are both being highly publicized, and we'll share the video when it is released.
Finally, in true IN2 style, we couldn't let the conference pass without a bumping celebration with our design friends. We invited a great group to visit IN2's office in Atlanta's Flatiron building (older than the Flatiron in New York!). We had a great time showing our office space and, in true Speakeasy style, touring the Al Capone-style vault in the building's lowest level.
Thanks to everyone who helped IN2 have such a great IDSA experience in Atlanta. We're looking forward to shaking things up at the newly-established International Design Conference next year in New Orleans!
Brian Roderman // Featured Presentation at the 2017 IDSA International Conference

This year's theme is 'Design IS Business,' and IN2's Brian Roderman was selected to deliver one of the featured presentations at this year's conference. Don't miss him sharing a fresh approach to capturing and creating a new ecosystem of Experiences.

New Fire Truck Cab Design with HME Ahrens-Fox
The IN2 team is proud of our support of HME Ahrens-Fox in the design of a cab-console for their custom fire apparatus line and other fire truck interiors. The new cab-console integrates custom touchscreen controls and a modular center section.
HME introduced the new cab-console at this year's FDIC conference. You can check out more details at HME's site.
IN2 Workshop at IDSA's Southern District Conference in Houston (April 7th-8th)
Over the weekend, IDSA held their 2017 Southern District Conference at the University of Houston. As part of the event, the IN2 team had the chance to collaboratively lead a workshop with 50+ Industrial Design students from a variety of universities around the South.
This session focused on quickly generating, capturing, visually communicating new ideas. Together with the students, we selected an unexpected category - Wearable Devices for Plants - and dove into new thinking. The team shared a technique students could try for quickly visualizing a new idea that we call 'Sharpie Sketching', and we then showed our process for making presentation-ready refinements.
Part of the innovation challenge here was converting a wild idea - for a shirt made of moss - into a product system that could conceivably be sold and monetized. Below you can see how it took shape.
Check Out Our New Office Space in Austin!
We are happy to announce a new location for IN2's creative headquarters in Austin, Texas. The design team will operate from east Austin's Canopy development. Formerly a Goodwill warehouse, the Canopy has been converted to a destination for artists, designers, and other creatives.
As the hub of our creative services, we'll utilize the open office as a collaborative space for workshops and sessions. We're looking forward to rolling up the garage door and hosting you in our new digs!
IN2's Atlanta Team helping facilitate the Atlanta installment of Global Service Jam
The Atlanta Service Jam, part of the Global Service Jam, takes place Feb 17th-19th, and IN2 will be there. Notably, IN2 is one of the event sponsors and our own Luke Jordan is one of the event's planners and facilitators.
Sign-up and details at www.atlantaservicejam.org .
A Service Jam is a cooperative gathering of people interested in a design-based approach to creativity and problem solving, and of course in service design. It is there to encourage experimentation and innovation – participants come together without a team, without an idea and, when given a theme, together create a new-to-the-world design while meeting new people.
The Global Service Jam is a community of Jams taking place internationally over the same weekend. All the Jams share the same starting themes, and publish their local results over a central platform. The theme for participants in the Global Service Jam will be announced at 6:30PM (local time) on Friday, and results must be shared by 2:00pm on Sunday.

2012 IDSA International Conference
Brian Roderman, FIDSA was the host and moderator of a Business of Design panel at the 2012 IDSA International Conference in Boston, Massachusetts. Roderman commented, “It was exciting to have such distinguished colleagues in this year’s panel. We had a lot of fun and talked about many topics that are relevant and important to both students and professionals in today’s working environment. We covered a great deal of information in a short amount of time. It was more like a big talk show / game show atmosphere than a formal 'sit, listen and take notes' kind of panel. We wanted to make sure that everyone in the audience had an opportunity to be engaged and bring a topic to the table. The distinguished panel guests were quick to respond with some very detailed information. We look forward to producing another panel like this in the very near future.”
Legrand Introduces the ‘Flat Screen TV Cord and Cable Power Kit’
The problem of hiding those pesky power cords and cables for a wall mounted flat screen TV are over! IN2 Innovation partnered with Legrand to create the ‘Flat Screen Cord and Cable Power Kit’ to empower any DIY consumer to safely and easily install TV power cords and Audio/Video cables behind the wall for professional looking results, without the need or cost of an electrician. A simple, pre-wired easy-to-use kit was developed to enhance the installation experience, maximize safety and meet building codes. By eliminating the need to make any electrical connections, the consumer’s fears, known as ‘installation anxiety’ and ‘electrical avoidance’, are removed from the equation. The Legrand ‘Flat Screen TV Cord and Cable Power Kit’ has been selected as a 2012 IDEA Finalist.
